Frequently asked questions
Do my buyers need an account?
No. Buyers open your link, pay and download the file directly. They also receive the download link by email.
Can I sell images too?
Yes. Besides PDFs you can sell photos and graphics as JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB. Buyers see a small watermarked version beforehand and receive the full-resolution original after payment. Videos are not supported yet.
How secure are my documents?
Every file is encrypted with AES-256 on upload – with its own key per document. It is only decrypted after confirmed payment and only for the download. Nobody can open your document without buying it.
What do buyers see before purchasing?
Title, description and price. For PDFs also the page count and a heavily pixelated preview of the first page; for images a small watermarked version and the resolution of the original.
How do buyers pay?
By credit card and other payment methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay or TWINT – processed by Stripe, one of the largest payment providers worldwide.
How is the money paid out?
Fully automatically to your bank account. For secure processing of card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and TWINT we use Stripe in the background, one of the largest payment providers worldwide. You link your bank account once in a few minutes – no financial know-how required. After that, payouts run automatically, usually within a few business days after the sale. PayDoc never has access to your money.
What does PayDoc cost?
No monthly fee, no subscriptions. The PayDoc fee is at most 8% per successful sale, plus the processing fee of our payment partner Stripe (approx. 2.9% + CHF 0.30 for card payments).
What happens if someone shares the link?
Each purchase allows only a limited number of downloads within a limited time – you set both per document. After that the link is worthless.
Is there a referral programme?
Yes. You will find your personal link in the dashboard. Anyone who signs up through it pays a reduced commission for the first months. As soon as the invited person makes their first sale, you also benefit from a lower commission. You can see the current terms in the dashboard under “Refer”.
Can I sell as an individual?
Yes. When signing up you choose “Individual” or “Company”. Companies can also add a logo, address and contact details, which buyers see in the purchase confirmation.
Can I sell with my team?
Yes. Companies can invite up to 5 sellers. Sellers upload documents on behalf of the company and only see their own sales – settings, payouts and total revenue stay with the owner.
Which content is not allowed?
Anything that violates Swiss law or the rights of third parties, such as copyrighted works without permission, as well as erotic or pornographic content. Accounts with such content will be suspended.
